About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer for one of our very important clients to design, build and maintain scalable data platforms that power analytics, reporting and data-driven products. You’ll work closely with data scientists, software developers, analysts and product teams to turn raw data into reliable, high-quality datasets. This role blends strong data engineering fundamentals with product thinking as you’ll help shape how users interact with data, not just how it’s stored. This role is hands-on and strategic and you’ll own data pipelines end-to-end and help shape our data architecture and best practices.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Date Engineer, you will:
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
Develop and optimise data warehouses and data lakes.
Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance.
Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions
Implement data modelling for analytics and reporting use cases
Optimise queries, storage and compute costs.
Implement monitoring, logging and alerting for data systems.
Enforce data governance, security, and access controls.
Mentor junior data engineers and review code.
Contribute to architectural decisions and technical standards.

Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering.
Strong SQL skills and experience with complex data models.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python).
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Experience with data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift etc.).
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
Experience building batch and/or streaming pipelines.
Strong understanding of data reliability and performance tuning.
Nice to have
Experience with real-time/streaming systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis).
Experience supporting machine learning pipelines.
Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Experience in a high-growth or production-scale environment.
Exposure to data governance, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
Nice to have
